Hello! I'm Devin Goodson, an environmental scientist that conducts research at the intersection of the natural and social sciences. I am passionate about using interdisciplinary research to understand the connections between nature and people. The overarching goal of my scholarship is to build more inclusive conservation practices through the amplification of local stakeholder knowledge in combination with insights from ecological research. To achieve this, I utilize a range of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Valuing Nature. Changing Behavior. Our lab is driven by a desire to broaden stakeholder representation and guide policy and planning relevant to resource management contexts. We do this by working with groups to identify factors that enable and constrain adaptations to environmental degradation.
Avian BehaviorOur lab is dedicated to unraveling the intricacies of recognition systems, using birds to explore egg recognition, mate recognition, prey identification, and predator detection. Employing a versatile toolkit, we delve into the social and genetic implications of species recognition in avian brood parasites.
Inclusive ConservationAn international research project striving for an inclusive approach to protected area management that enhances human well-being and biodiversity. This requires the creation and implementation of interdisciplinary tools and methods to balance varying conservation visions.
